The project

In May 2006 the Church Building Association Kaisermühlen of BV-Stv.aD Karl Regner, Father Elmar Kahofer SDS and Dkfm. Horst Huettner created. This association has, after several Gegrübel how to best professional and a local examination of the stated that one should be renovated immediately, established from a few dedicated emperors and empresses Mühlner Mühlner. The humidity and vandalism on the exterior walls are easily identifiable.

II) damage to the main and on a side

apse III.) Crumbling plaster with exposed brickwork
IV) vandalism by slingshot holes and graffiti

These images show only partial, as it is necessary, the Basilica, both in its buildings, as well as in its beauty preserved. Damage to the facade, the roof or the windows fall on many people, but crumbling Art Nouveau boxes, statues, benches and paintings we fall curiously, not so easy in the eye. Be
remarkable art, however, threatens lost.

addition requires a modern liturgy, a church that meets certain minimum requirements. For example, many are Tü Ren in a shockingly bad condition, the heating system is outdated and hardly sufficient. For equipment and spare no benches parking is available, so the church is very zugerümpelt. The confessional is like a desolate prison cell, some chairs and benches do not have soft knees wobble. A particularly disturbing aspect is every time the ugly rag rug in front of the Joseph altar. Peace and reflection are not any easier.

The Karl of Austria-Chapel

That is where the need for action is sufficiently represented by the few pictures. It was, however very soon the question of where you should start now. The worst was the ravages of time on the right vestibule and the appropriate space at the end of the right side gnawed vessel. This chapel was nearly a century served as a store room and was gone almost from the consciousness of the parish. This architecturally beautiful, but totally neglected space, presented a unique opportunity for a dignified and new design dar.

the first Proposal for the new use of space had Hr.
Dietler our pastoral novel. His idea was that you should make the desolate limbo a baptistery in order to add a new liturgical aspect of the parish. At the church building was originally a baptistery been planned, but that was not built for lack of money. This idea was unfortunately not much support in the parish and has feared the problems m, that she would not be financed can be.

In studying the records of the first church building association discovered Hr. Martin Regner, that there is a close connection between the parish and the Kaisermühlen House of Habsburg had been. In the statutes of the old association under § 2 "The purpose of the association" is written: "The purpose of the association is: The construction of a church, according to their dedication, as well as the intent that it would and was a sign of unwavering loyalty and love of the traditional ruling house. " To this day celebrates Kaisermühlen Corpus Christi one week after the calendar Corpus Christi, because at that time wanted to take part in the procession through the Kaiser Kaiser mills.

yourself recalling that in 2004 the last Austrian emperor by Pope John Paul II has beatified, the idea came to bring a relic Kaisermühlen. The Stie idea ß in a surprisingly strong interest in many ve rschiedenen people. Dr. Kaplan Brandmayr from Kaiser Karl prayer for the League of peace League promised us a relic of the new chapel. Knowing that the remains of Emperor Charles only very famous churches such as Maria Zell, the coronation church of the Augustinian church in Budapest and will be awarded in Vienna, we were a small suburban parish of the trust placed in us especially pleased . Was so quickly taken the decision to make this chapel a pilot project for the renovation of the entire basilica.

The wide-ranging support to this project already learned quite surprised at the beginning, are outrageous. The Vienna Parks and Gardens agreed to bere
it the old green belt around the church to restore u nd to make beautiful. The school's Danube city agreed to participate and for many vocational students have participated in the plastering and the installation work of the stone tiles. On a visit to Poland, we were given by Prelate Henryk Jankowski, the confessor of the Nobel laureate and the first democratic President Lech Walesa, a gift of two bags of amber, which "is to decorate the chapel for the Emperor of Peace". From Weisleinmühle in Ravelsbach we got from family Pregesbauer two old millstones given, one of which is reworked into the relics and the other version is to be built on the Schüttauplatz as a memorial to the ship's mills. District Scheed "welcomed" even the M ühlsteine when you arrive in Kaisermühlen. Furthermore, the district council has funds available to the place in front of the church beautifully paved and to have it redesigned. Professionals such as architects from the Leopold Goeth city and mosaic artist Wilhelm Kocian from Hirschstetten support our work as well as many donors and employees it, that make this work first.

The opening of the Chapel of Charles of Austria is in a large hard mass on Sunday, held the 19/10/2008 at 10:00 clock. We would welcome your presence. A detailed announcement will be conducted by mailings and posters. See top

The relic of St. Leopold of Austria

The Abbey of Klosterneuburg has in Kaisermühlen scho n since very many Len years on large estates. In the Danube area are served by Klosterneuburg from several parishes. For this reason, the Canons have always had a close relationship with our district. Even between the Order of the Salvatorian and the pin there is a good friendship. This ancient relationship has now intensified in 2006. When the Church Building Association turned to the pen and a relic of St. Leopold of Austria asked for our basilica, we were surprised that it represented no problem. After a short time period could could pick up a small delegation of KBVS the relic from Lower Austria. The has now found in the high altar of our church a new place. It was used there as part of a festival mass at which the birthday was celebrated Father Elmars, of the stonemasons of the Danube city school construction and can be seen by all visitors.

Even a small tradition has already started. Young people from Kaisermühlen Kagran already drove in the last few years Leopoldikirtag to Klosterneuburg to have fun there. And in 2007 the Church Building Association was also the "small Leopold, who is in Klosterneuburg, the day the pin parishes invited. There were those who had traveled with listening in truss barn an interesting lecture, were all well treated, and even got a tour of the pen.
we hope will lead to another Kaiser Mühlner tradition and a deep connection is created with the pen.

future projects
One of the first works of KBVS was Furthermore, the draining of the chapel walls. were also Exploration wells in the ODO church of the Archdiocese Building Authority carried out. Here, the moisture of the walls has been verified. Since the church is so close to the Old Danube and Neue Donau, it practically floats on a water-filled gravel layer. Therefore, a drain will eventually be essential. Since it is not original blueprints of the Basilica meghr indicates the Bschaffenheit of foundation is unknown. To determine this, the CBD in the near future intends to carry out test excavations. Only with the help of the Federal Monuments Office and the Archdiocese can such a large construction project to be addressed.

After a successful Drenagierung would the district and the Vienna Parks and Gardens make a landscaping around the church. Long-time residents are Kaiser Mühlner may recall that there have been until a few decades, a green strip around the church. This was unfortunately destroyed and buried in concrete, because it was hoped that by the time the walls to get dry. By sealing the soil but is the complete opposite occurred and the salinization of the walls has reached a critical level. This error would be corrected and the same would be Schüttauplatz embellished. An added bonus for the church would prevent Graffittischmierereien and the daily bombardment Soccer be.

Mr. Scheed District has already, together with the Parks and Gardens and the KBV projects to reshape the environment, develop the Church. We want to thank you at this point for the active support of the District Council.
